Step inside the mind of a killer

from the safety of your theatre seat!

Having been awarded his PhD at the University of Greenwich before leading their forensic psychology course for the Criminology Department, Dr Ross Friday now brings his expertise to the stage with a series of live theatre shows that offer a thrilling journey into the psyche of serial killers.

Grounded in real science but spiked with pitch-black humour and onstage demonstrations, these immersive experiences explore what drives people to kill — and why we’re so obsessed with them. Whether you’re already a true crime addict or just curious about this dark but fascinating subject, this is your chance to go beyond the headlines.

Each show explores a different theme — from the twisted psychology of psychopaths, to how real murder scenes are analysed, to insights from serial killers studied behind bars. Expect psychological insight, surprising stories, audience interaction, personal anecdotes, and the kind of chilling detail that stays with you long after the curtain falls.

Every show draws on Ross’s work in forensic psychology, both as a lecturer and a researcher — but don’t expect an academic lecture. These performances have been described as “tension-filled and compelling”. They’re designed to shock, provoke, and entertain as they bring this dangerous world vividly to life on stage.

About the Shows

Getting away with murder

Examining the twisted minds of serial killers and what makes their brains uniquely dangerous. Uncover how psychopaths think, and learn the art of criminal profiling and crime scene analysis.

Killer Mistakes

Exposing the fatal errors that lead to a serial killer’s capture, the investigative techniques that unravel their crimes, and the misjudgements witnesses make that can put the wrong person behind bars.

Behind the prison gates

Offering a rare look at how serial killers face their sentence once their killing spree ends, drawing on my own prison-based research to reveal what offender behaviour can teach us about the criminal mind.

Stage Fright

A Halloween special that explores the films that inspired real-life killers, the science of fear, and what happens in the brain when terror takes over. A must-see for movie fans and true crime enthusiasts alike.

Mistletoe and Crime

This is a Christmas special like no other, mixing murder with merriment in a macabrely festive evening that unwraps horrific crimes committed during what should be the most wonderful time of the year. You were warned!

About Dr Friday

Dr Friday earned his PhD at the University of Greenwich and went on to lead their forensic psychology course for the Criminology Department.

His experimental research earned him the ‘doctor’ title and several academic awards, but he’s very much just Ross when bringing the darker edges of human behaviour to the public. With pitch-black humour and personal stories, he makes complex forensic psychology accessible, entertaining — and sometimes even hilarious.

His journey into criminology began early. With a father who spent two decades in HM Prison Service, Ross grew up all too aware that crime is rarely simple — and that every story has more than one side. It’s this complexity that fascinated him even as a child.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, he went on to study psychology, graduating with a First-Class Honours degree, and later completed a doctorate under the supervision of Professor David Luke. Along the way, he worked alongside some of the UK’s leading experts, including eyewitness testimony researcher Dr Josh Davis, and met some of criminology’s most notable figures.

Ross has since delivered talks at international conferences, become a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society, and continued to explore what draws us to the most disturbing aspects of human nature. His show invites audiences to think critically about crime, justice, and why we’re all so drawn to the darkness.

Join him on a journey through the minds of serial killers — you’ll discover a lot about them, and perhaps even something unexpected about yourself.
